The iTero Lumina Wand Increases Scan Speed 3-Fold

In a groundbreaking leap for dental technology, the iTero Lumina scanner has transformed the doctor-patient experience with its innovative Multi-Direct Capture Technology. This scanner is half the size and weight of its predecessors, claiming the title of the lightest wand on the market. Unlike traditional scanners, which have scanning modules positioned at the back of the wand and transmit light toward the front, the Lumina’s unique design employs multiple scanning modules at the front. This increases the Field of Capture (FOC) threefold and eliminates the need for a larger wand.

The Lumina scanner redefines the scanning process, making it smoother, faster, and easier to complete. It integrates with existing iTero units through a simple wand upgrade, ensuring a smooth transition for practitioners. Efficiency takes center stage as Lumina enables an uninterrupted, single-flowing scan, regardless of movement speed or sequence of capture.

Wand maneuverability of the Lumina is vastly improved; a FOC three times larger allows for wider segments of the arch to be captured at once. Its compact design and enhanced capabilities make it ideal for scanning large edentulous spaces, addressing a challenge faced by current scan technology.

Another one of the Lumina’s standout features is its ability to replace intraoral photos. With photo-realistic scans, it elevates clinical decision-making to a new level. This, in turn, fosters improved patient communication, as patients can see their high resolution scans chair side.

The capture distance on this scanner has furthermore been extended to 25 mm. This provides a significant advantage, especially in patients with deep and narrow palates. By reducing the chance of gag reflex in patients, the iTero Lumina ensures a faster and more comfortable scanning experience. The iTero Lumina sets a new standard in dental imaging, offering unparalleled efficiency, accuracy, and patient comfort.
